Employer Information, Registration and Attendance Policies

Please join our 6th Annual Career Fair on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at UCSB! The fair will provide an opportunity for students interested in actuarial careers to interact exclusively with actuarial employers.

This event is guaranteed to be a major success by drawing attendance from our approximately 250+ Actuarial Science majors, as well as our active UCSB Actuarial Association members, and other UCSB students from all majors with an enormous interest in the profession! The event is open to all major departments as well as student organizations and clubs. If you are interested in hiring from a bright, talented, and diverse group of employees, this fair will assist you in meeting that goal.

Registration

To register your company, please complete the registration form, and make a payment by Wednesday, September 20, 2017. Each participating company's fee is $300. The fee includes 1 table, lunch for two representatives, and one complementary parking ticket. If more than 2 guests will be joining, it will be an additional $30 per guest. If you decide to bring more than two representatives, please notify us in writing prior to the event by sending an email to actuary@pstat.ucsb.edu.

An electronic booklet of resumes of the registered members of the Actuarial Association of UCSB will be distributed several days prior to the Fair.

Event Sponsorship

We invite you to sponsor the event. Event sponsors will have their logo and a link to their webpage placed onto the Actuary Career Fair website checked by hundreds of students. Sponsors will also be featured in special sponsorship posters at the event, and if desired, can send materials to be distributed to students on the day of event. Cost: $100.

Payment

Payment of the $300 (with additional $30 per guest if more than two representatives attend) must be mailed by Wednesday, September 20, 2017. Please mail check made out to "UC Regents" noted “Actuary Career Fair Sponsor” to:

If you would like to make an additional voluntary donation to the UCSB Actuarial Program Scholarship and Development Fund, please add the amount to the registration fee.

If we do not receive full payment, then we will not confirm your registration and will not allow you to attend the event. If you have a concern about whether you will be able to meet this payment deadline please contact us ahead of time.

Cancellations and Refunds

If you must cancel your fair registration, please do so as soon as possible. Cancellation requests must be sent to actuary@pstat.ucsb.edu to be valid. The final date to cancel and still receive a refund is by 4:00pm (PST) on Wednesday, October 4, 2017. Cancellations made after this date will not be refunded. By accepting these terms you acknowledge that by not canceling ahead of time, you deny us the ability to schedule another employer to take your place. If you sign up to bring extra representatives and do not bring as many to the event, the fee charged for these representatives will not be refunded.

No Shows

If you are registered for the Actuary Career Fair and do not attend, your registration will be considered a "no show." Any registration fees that have been collected will not be refunded and these fees collected cannot be used as credit towards a future fair. Any uncollected registration fees will still be billed to compensate for not canceling your registration in the required way (by email to actuary@pstat.ucsb.edu) by the cancellation deadline.

Table Arrangement

If you have a special request for where you would like to be placed, please submit your request in writing to actuary@pstat.ucsb.edu. We will do our best to seat you accordingly. Wireless Internet and electricity may be available in some venues. If you request these services, no guarantees will be made however we will do our best to position your company in a place that allows you access to the utilities you want.

Weather

We plan to hold this event indoors, however, it might include outdoor placement. In the event of poor weather conditions which require us to cancel the fair, the registration fee will NOT be refunded, but will be kept as credit towards participation in a future actuarial career fair. Santa Barbara does not frequently experience weather which will require us to cancel a fair; however, it is possible. Weather conditions can range from warm and sunny to mild and breezy. Please check weather forecasts for current conditions and prepare accordingly.

If you would like to ship your materials, please schedule your materials to arrive at the following address no earlier than September 30 and no later than October 11.
