Travel Support for Junior U.S. Participants

NSF Logo Funding is available from the U.S. National Science Foundation for partial travel support to help in defraying the travel costs of junior researchers from the United States participating in the Conference on Stochastic Asymptotics & Applications (joint with 6th WCMF), September 25-27, 2014 at UC Santa Barbara.

Junior researchers are those who received their PhDs in 2008 or later, or who are advanced graduate students working on PhD dissertations. All applicants must be affiliated with a U.S. institution, reside in the U.S., and not have an individual NSF grant. Applications received by JULY 7, 2014 will receive full consideration. Updated August 4: Travel support applications are now closed.

Applications will be reviewed by the conference organizing committee; it is anticipated that applicants will be notified of the results of their applications on or before July 15, 2014. The committee may give preference to underrepresented groups (women and underrepresented minorities).

Each application must consist of an email + attached PDF files sent to Michael Ludkovski at ludkovski@pstat.ucsb.edu with the following information:

  1. A statement that the applicant meets the eligibility criteria given above. If applicable, list all other grants held/travel funds applied for (email format is fine).
  2. A brief statement providing the rationale for the request and explaining your interest in attending the conference.
  3. A vita including education (all applicants except current PhD students should include PhD year, institution and dissertation title), current position, current research interests, complete list of publications. PhD candidates should list the name of their advisor(s) and expected completion date. The whole CV should be 2-page maximum.
  4. PhD student applicants should have their dissertation advisor send a brief letter of recommendation directly by email to ludkovski@pstat.ucsb.edu
